These dogs are very healthy, and their life expectancy is 15-17 years on the average. They retain their stamina and energy throughout life time, and appreciate daily rigorous exercise. These little dogs are hardier than it may seem. As they get older they have a tendency to become obese and should be provided with regular exercise and a balanced diet. Due to the small size the dogs are vulnerable and should be handled with care. Specific disorder for this breed is hypoglycemia and you should be careful with the trachea. It is recommended to use a body harness instead of a collar. Some dogs may have molera or a soft spot on the top of the head, like human babies.
