Thus, many breeders state that their Chihuahuas are the smallest ones and label their dogs accordingly. There are a few names attached to these tiny dogs. Most of them are just bright words the sole purpose of which is to attract prospective buyers of Chihuahuas. As a matter of fact, Chihuahuas are often referred to as Tea Cup, Pocket Size, Miniature, Standard, and Tiny Toy Chihuahuas. These names are totally wrong.People who know the breed standard will never confuse the names of the Chihuahua. According to the standard there are only two types of the breed. They are long-coated and smooth-coated Chihuahuas. It is acknowledged that individual dogs in a litter can be smaller than their littermates. Yet, all Chihuahuas are evaluated according to the official breed standard and should not be labeled in a manner that is very misleading. Prospective buyers of Chihuahuas should be warned against being hooked. It is true that Chihuahuas are tiny dogs. Yet, they should not be less than the size set in the standard. As a matter of fact, there is a threat that too small dogs are fragile creatures that cannot boast good health. Therefore, purchasing the smallest Chihuahuas with no regard to common sense can lead to drastic results.
